About Lara

Lara is a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist who works with children and young people with speech and language difficulties.  Lara graduated from University College London in 2000 with a degree in Speech Sciences.

Since graduating, Lara has worked for Hillingdon PCT (NHS) in their paediatric (children’s) department with children aged 2-16 years.  She has experience of working in a variety of clinical settings, including health centres, nurseries / schools and hospitals with children who have a wide range of speech, language and communication difficulties.

 

 

Qualifications:

 

· BSc ,  Human Communication Science ,University College London (University of London)

· Registered Member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (M.R.C.S.L.T.)

· Registered member of the Health Professions Council (HPC)

· Member of the Association of Speech and Language Therapists in Independent Practice  (M.A.S.L.T.I.P.)

Lara currently works for both the NHS and independently.  Her specialist skills are working with speech and language disorders, such as dyspraxia, specific language impairment and stammering.  She has a particular interest in working with young children.

She has received additional training in the following areas:

· Stammering therapy - Via the Michael Palin Centre

· Lidcombe Therapy

· Signalong - a signing system specially designed for children

· Dyspraxia Therapy - including use of the Nuffield Dyspraxia Programme

Lara is an enthusiastic therapist, who believes therapy sessions should be child-centered and designed to suit the individual needs of her clients.

Lara is passionate about working with children and as a mother, recognises the importance of supporting families through the therapy process.
